Have You Been Let Down by the Prosperity Gospel?
Lawton,Okla.–September 7 (Great PlainsPress)
Author and journalist, Michael D. Fortner is looking for people who have been disappointed or even harmed by the prosperity gospel.
In his new book due out October 1st, The Prosperity Gospel Exposed, And Other False Doctrines, he reveals how he was let down by the prosperity gospel.
After twenty of years of believing the prosperity gospel and sending money to ministries on TV, he was still poor, broke, and frequently unemployed. It seemed that the more money he gave to large ministries on TV, the poorer he got.
So, Fortner began to question the accuracy of the teaching and felt called by God to analyze all the verses in the Bible that are used to teach the prosperity gospel.
He used Bible commentaries, Greek lexicons, word-study dictionaries, and numerous translations of the Bible. “What I discovered proves beyond any doubt that the prosperity gospel is totally false, and a horrible sin.” He said, “the root cause is inaccurately interpreting the Scriptures.” Fortner has a B.A. in journalism with a minor in history, so he is skilled at research and analysis.
So now he is looking for people who want to tell their stories of how they have been disappointed or harmed by the “gospel of greed.” You can contact the author with your story at his web site: www.michaelfortner.com. You can also read the introduction and first chapter online.
His book also has a chapter showing the correct understanding of many other Word of Faith doctrines. There is also a chapter called Prophetic Voices Crying in the Wilderness, which contains articles or book excerpts from many different people, both known and unknown, who are speaking out against the prosperity gospel and materialism, which Fortner says has spread far beyond Word of Faith Charismatics.
Even Christians who do not overtly teach the prosperity gospel teach that a righteous man will naturally tend to become prosperous, which inAmericameans very well off, but is actually wealthy when compared to the rest of the world.
In the final chapter he says the judgment of God has been on America for several years, in the form of economic troubles, and natural disasters, and that it will get worse until all Christians repent of the prosperity gospel and materialism and start sharing their wealth with poor Christians in Asia and Africa who are not able to earn enough to supply their basic needs.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Book Destroys the Prosperity Gospel
Lawton, Okla.– September 20 (Great Plains Press)
Author and journalist, Michael D. Fortner says if you believe that God will prosper a righteous man, you need to read his new book due out October 1st, The Prosperity Gospel Exposed, And Other False Doctrines.
Unlike other writers on this subject, the author once believed the Prosperity Gospel, but after twenty years of financial struggle and frequent unemployment God called him to research the Prosperity Gospel. What he found proves the Prosperity Gospel is totally false, and a horrible sin, and calls for a Reformation of the Charismatic Movement. But he is not against all Pentecostal / Charismatic doctrines, but takes a balanced approach because he grew attending an old fashioned Pentecostal church.
Other books on this subject take a theological point of view, but the prosperity teachers failure is in not properly interpreting the Scriptures; so he analyzes every verse they use to teach the Prosperity Gospel, and gives the correct interpretation. As a result of properly interpreting the Scriptures, this book totally destroys the Prosperity Gospel.
Fortner says all Christians in America have been deceived by wealth, not just Charismatics, the result is spiritual lukewarmness. The Scriptures show that Biblical prosperity is having all your needs met, or not being in want, but the American definition is having lots of stuff. He also says that many pastors, especially the mega-church pastors, earn too much money, while Jesus taught that his future ministers should live without high incomes or material wealth.
He believes Christianity in America today is the church of Laodicea, and so God has already started to refine us as gold; which means suffering the fire of hardships. In the final chapter he details the economic and natural disasters that have come upon America in the last few years and that it is the judgment of God upon us, and calls for Christians to repent of materialism and the Prosperity Gospel, and for Native Americans to repent of spreading gambling. He says the judgment will likely get worse until we repent, resulting in another Great Awakening in America.
The author was called into the ministry at age 20, but because he is not an eloquent speaker he chose to spend his adult life doing in-depth study of the Scriptures. He has a B.A. in journalism with a minor in history, and is a skilled researcher, with God-given ability to figure things out.
Michael Fortner is available for print interviews but not for live interviews. Media can request review copies of the ebook in PDF format by emailing the author at email@example.com, or calling 580-284-7553. There is also has a video on his web site linked to YouTube that promotes the book.
